I went to check out the 2008 J-Customs and upon spotting the RG8470Z I sport wood serious enough to break my zipper! Geez this is guitar is gorgeous.

Just my opinion but Vine of Life looks kinda girly on an electric... very anti-blues, anti-metal, anti-rock... ish.

I'm a huge fan of Ibanez guitar's from way, way back. The quality has always been superb! How was it Pete? Did you get a chance to spend any amount of quality time with it.

A very serious looking axe done up all in black :AOK:

Yeesh! I missed this thread. For obvious reasons, I like Ibanezes (Ibani?) too. I'm not always the hugest fan of the vine inlay either, but I think it works pretty well with the "none more black" motif.

I'm not a monkey grip or VOL fanatic either but I love this guitar as a whole...it just works well and, to me, is very aesthetically pleasing.

Algonquin, I did not play this one. I played a similar model from '06 that was in my local haunt. I have never owned a J-Custom but have had two Prestiges and still own one of them. As amazing as Prestiges are the J-Customs trump them by offering exotic woods and combos. Basically, the build quality is the same is just that with the J's you're paying for the cosmetics or ornateness and really amazing flame/quilts/what_have_you.
