A place to stand, a place to grow...
In honor of Remembrance Day!
'Not a political post, just one of respect.'

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Agreed Algonquin. I may not always agree with the folks in Washington, who have the power to make decisions without paying the price, but I will ALWAYS remember those who paid that price.

(not intended to be a political statement)

Agreed. God Bless 'em!

"Allies had captured a mere 5 miles (8 km) of new territory at a cost of 140,000 combat deaths, a ratio of roughly 2 inches (5 cm) gained per dead soldier." More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Passchendaele

In keeping with this being a guitar forum, here's a few appropriate songs to queue up:

Aces High
Paaschendale
Tailgunner
The Trooper
For Whom The Bell Tolls
One
The Rooster
War Pigs
Beyond the Black
The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down
