Jensen Neo 12

It will work fine. The 100W rating is how much power you can put into the speaker. It looks like it will handle 200W peak.

From this page:

Sensitivity@1W, 1m 98.4 dB

That means if you put one watt of power into the speaker, it will put out 98.4 deciBels. Thats pretty loud.

As far as how good/bad it will sound, I've never heard one.

Does anybody have experience with Neodymium speakers?

Would the Jensen Neo work well in a cab with a 5 watt amp into it?

It comes in a 4 Ohm version, but what about a 5 watt amp into a 100W rated speaker?

Thanks, yet again tung!

So is that an extraordinary sensitivity rating, or rather typical?

It seems about average to me. Guitar speakers are usually rated from about 95 to 103 or so.

One thing: some players like the sound of a speaker being pushed, i.e., cone distortion. If you put 5W into the Neo, you won't get any cone distortion at all.

I just picked up the Febraury 2009 issue of Guitar Player Magazine. There is a write up of several different neo speakers in it; Jensen Neo Jet included.

it would be worthwhile to find an old jensen, the new stuff is made overseas and nothing like the original ones, tho It still may be better than what your replacing

Yeah, I just noticed this too.

Andy, I'm not replacing anything. I'm thinking ahead for an eventual cab. I was just wondering about Neo speakers.

So you think that a vintage Jensen is worth looking at?

Jensen

If you are thinking about a 10 inch speaker Jensen makes the P10Q which is a vintage style speaker with an alnico magnet and should sound incredible. Not sure of the sensitivity but comes in four ohms.

By the way, one ohm sensitivity increase equals a quite a bit of volume increase. I was surprised at how much difference a few ohms makes.

Duffy

I have a P12N in my HRDX and it sounds really good.
