Here is Rachel van Zanten playing hers

I've never heard of her.

Apparently all of the songs on this album were played on the Johnson through an AC30. She must've installed a pup.

What are the screens in the two sound holes for?

To keep the flies out?

Good luck with your resos. As to the screens....the screens are purely for decoration as the "openings" are auxiliary soundholes, just like the F-holes in some arch-tops. The idea was that they didn't want to leave just open circular holes in the tops, so they put little screens over them to gussy them up. My reso has a type of copper latticework over the hole, instead of a screen.

They look like fly eyes to me. ;)

I understand.

The screens are not to keep the flies out, but to keep the spider in.

There's no mojo without the spider.

(see my avatar for a pic of the spider mojo hand at the screen)
