So this week I'm taking a break from the country and blues stuff to do a little Jimi Hendrix, and next week I think I'm going even further afield with a little Yngwie Malmsteen just for a change of pace

This is in the style of the first lick of the solo in "The Wind Cries Mary" - it's not the actual lick. One thing that I dig about it is that not only is Jimi using his Curtis Mayfield-stye chord fragments but he's also playing some single note lines in an area of the neck that most of us tend to forget about...the 4th and 5th strings above the 15th fret. It makes for a cool sound and one that I've been trying to incorporate into my own playing more lately.
