Metronome Suggestion?

Is there a huge diffrence between a $20 and $50 metronomes? I have to invest in something sooner than later so probably the cheaper the better. But Im just wondering.

Last night I had this idea in my head, worked it out on bass and guitar but when I went to record it, it was worse than those boys doing the pink floyd cover in another thread. So I have got to get something to hold time, even if its just the tick tick of a metronome.

Basic run down of my recording attempt. Guitar came in a beat off first time through. 2nd time through the bass was at a faster temp then the guitar, 3rd time around, guitar was faster than the bass. If Id thrown my Bob Dylan meets Kurt Cobain vocals on it, it would of been one of the worst recording in the history of music l:thwap

I use iTick on the Iphone - a free app.

Is it out of the question to use a PC device of some sort to do this? I usually just make a simple drum beat in Hydrogen, but there are zillions of metronomes online. I'd have to get one that wasn't just the beeps because that **** drives me nuts.

I have one of these, and it's great. You can tap its signal from the headphone out into your practice amp/mixer whatever's aux-in.

Is there a difference? Probably some extra features rather than performance. If all u need is something to bleep in time, then cheaper is definitely better in my opinion. As has been pointed out, there are loads of free metronomes on the web if you practice near a pc.

I mostly use the drum loops in my boss loop station.

I use a korg digital metronome. $30 I think and it works great although the headphone output isn't great.

I like the fact that you can use different sets with it from top hat to snare to high hat or increase which ever you need.lou

Ive been playin with the monkey, seems to work just fine once I find a beat I like. Im positive the more I use it the easier that will become as well.

recently won a Seth Thomas wood Metronome on eBay for a whopping 26 bucks.good for me as I tend to keep my guitar sessions seperate from computing over 99% of the time.makes for better practicing methinks.the click click of it helps a lot in getting things down but that's just me.MF has some good ones too reasonably priced.

Here is an uber deluxe one a guy I played with a couple times around here invented. http://rhythmsource.com/ It looked pretty cool, and very, very comprehensive.

I just use the free app for my iPhone that Robert mentioned, and/or the one that came with my Guitar Toolkit app.

I grew up with a wind up "tall pyramid" shaped wood one sitting on the piano. That worked too.
