Well, Christmas came to my house a little early this year. I have a good friend who sent me his MI Audio Tube Zone out of the blue. He has a high end boutique amp and decided he didn't need the pedal, so he sent it to me.

The Tube Zone is a spendy boutique pedal made in Australia. To my ear it sounds like a high gain Marshall or Dual Rectifier depending on the settings. The pedal is the older version with three knobs; the newest version has six knobs.

Here is a pretty good review here:

Web Site.

I'm really not into boutique pedals, I much perfer the pedestrian DOD and Boss variety, but this pedal makes Boss and DOD sound like toys.

Here's what mine looks like:

It is easily best sounding pedal I own now. My buddy gave to me because he's had bad experiences selling stuff on Ebay and the like. He said he'd just rather give it to me that deal with the brain damage of trying to sell it online. He also said that they don't hold their value that well, so you might look for a used one.

Oh yeah ! this pedal sound s good with these few tone , level & drive knobs .. Sound s big , like it ,pretty expensive one i guess..

Got me one comin. Can't wait to try it out! My friend is letting me have his for a good-guy price. He is thinking about a Guytron amp. I had the chance to try a Guytron the other day and it is awesome!! Wish I had the money for one of them but not right now.

I wish i had a friend like yours :thwap:

Great sounding pedal! I'm surprised at how much air is in that enclosure, though. They definitely could have made that puppy smaller.

Nice friend you've got there, Tung! :dude:

I believe it is a 1590BB size, if I'm not mistaken. It is the same size as the new BBE FX.

My friend Ben is a good guy. He just got his Doctorate in materials engineering and is a good source of information about woods and guitar building supplies.

I was surprised he gave up the Tube Zone, I remember he raved about it when he got it and I can see why. I guess his Pritchard amp does all the Tube Zone does and more.

M29: I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Tube Zone. Is it the new 6 knob version? Or the older one with three knobs like mine?

Hello tung,

The one I am getting is the six pot box. The three is the same from what I gather. There were some internal trimming pots that were moved outside on the later ones.
I will let you know how it sounds.

The demos sound great.
