I wanna know how many fretters ride motorcycles. My mom and step-dad bought a new honda shadow a couple months ago and I have a yamaha GT80 from the 70's or 80's. I was wondering if any of you know why the throttle cable sticks? Also how hard is it to chnage spark plugs? i really want to fix it up so i have something to ride.

 me.

I grew up in a motorcycle shop. Used to race motocross and enduros. Now I burn up the highways on my vintage Yamaha XJ100.

Changing plugs is a breeze. Make sure you gap them properly before installing the new ones.

oh, this one you can enlarge - man, youza justa no fun.

Edit, same size, never mind.

hah thats a nice bke from what ican see in the photo. I was watching a video and the throttle cable not being adjusted could cause it to stick. Anyone know if thats true? Im coming home tommorow and im gonna pull it out and see what the whole thing looks like. Last time i rode it was about 2 years ago and its been uncovered for a year so i hope nothing else is wrong with it.

Ride a '94 Suzuki Intruder 1400. Have had her since buying her off the showroom floor in '95 when the new models came in.

Obligatory quote:

I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motor-cicle
And I don't want a tickle
I'd rather ride on my motor-cicle
And I don't want to die
I just want to ride on my motor-cy-cle

Having said that, I have no interest in motorcycles. I totally understand why people like them, but if I'm going to go 70 MPH, I want to be surrounded by steel.

You get that way when you go from 70 to 0. On a motorcycle at 70 you are surrounded by air.

I ride a Honda VTX. It's my 4th street bike and I have had all kinds of dirtbikes since age 10.

Kinda like falling off a cliff. It's not the fall per se. It's the sudden stop.

Here I am with my 2003 Electra Glide and my two girls and my grandson been riding my whole life still have a Honda 250 2 stroke just kinda look at it anymore the thing will hurt ya.

So Im home now and i got a better look at it. The seats rusted off its hinges but not really a big deal i need to get a new battery and spark plug and throttle cable. At first the wheels were locked up and i tryed moving it and it didnt. So i sprayed some WD40 in it and it went so i think thats all thats wrong with it. I got a new project now, so me and my step brother who knows alot about bikes are going to try to salvage a cable from a old trike this sunday.

Nice bike :AOK:

My first street bike was an '89 Sportster. Once the current bike gets decrepit it will be replaced with a Road King.

exactly the reason why I'm afraid to go to a Harley dealer. I've wanted a Sportster for years but the whole nothing-between-me-and-the-pavement thing keeps me from doing it.

There is risk, but it is manageable. Take a safety course, wear protective gear, ride like the other guy doesn't see you, and ride with friends in groups.

Sign up and take an MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foudation) Basic Rider Course in your area. It's a controlled environment, on smaller bikes, at relatively low speeds. They are a ton of fun, and you learn great stuff, too!

So i got the throttle cable fixed i think. I used the cable of a old mountain bike haha. All i ned to do is fill her up and change the plugs and i should be good.

Here's me with my Triumph Sprint ST when I bought it new in 2001. (fuel-injected 955cc Triple)
I've made many updates to it since and I'll post some updated pix tonight.
