Shiner is so proud. he's got the furring strips up in the by-proxy's bedroom and has so far hung three guitars. nine more to go. :D

One of our friends from the 'W' gave us an addition to the room, a Washburn guitar banner.

it's slowly coming together. ;)

Shiner family band tracks coming soon.

[whoops... i turned around and he's already got the fourth hanger in the wall] :bravo:

[laugh] i just heard him... "maybe i just put up one more. just one more" :dude: :rotflmao:

Sounds like a fun project. Nine more to go? Wow! I hope they are all well hung.
Might be a little more than music being made in this room.;) :crazyguy:

Haha, or it didn't happen!

Man, I got at LEAST three years before we have a spare room available, and that assumes that the eldest moves out at 18, which ain't necessarily so given that we got the best state university in Florida sitting less than 6 miles from Casa Krashpad.

Luckly, we're down to 1 kid left at home...........the other 2 are in college.
So, I've had a music room in the house for a few years now.

But the good thing is, I FINALLY talked the wife into turning one of the spare rooms into a studio.:D
Nothing big, just a Tascam 16 track deck, eggfoam on the walls and a monitor setup.

And can you believe I said " But Honey, having a home studio will save us money, and you'll be able to see me more".................and it frickin' worked!:rotflmao:

America, what a country!:dude:

all the guitars are now officially hung, other than my little yamaha and the D'Aquisto, which stays cased for now. :D

warren, the pics have to wait until the by-proxy gets here from houston [he's on his way shortly] b/c his bed is still in the way. :)

Here ya' go Warren. Still have a little work on the room to finish it out. We've got to move that big *** bed out of there and move in some seating. But at least it's getting there. I've still got some room to expand and add a few more hangers, but the hangers I chose were $20 each, so I can wait awhile on that.

Strum, this whole "hangin' guitars" thing still has me a little nervous. I put the heaviest guitars on the bottom so that if they do fall, they only fall a couple inches instead of four feet. Let me get my confidence up then we'll put them up top.

Warren, the plan is to move the daybed from my daughter's room in for seating and to keep it as a guest room also. So come down anytime you want brother. The Shiner is on me.:dude:

But you're making the pancakes . . . wait a minute, NO YOU'RE NOT!:pancake:

And I agree with both of you, WE NEED MORE GUITARS!!!

News flash, you are not the first one to use hooks. Have you read anywhere about a rash of falling guitars???

Kat, Kat, Kat. What am I gonna do with you brother.:thwap:

Acoustic is pure, electric is from the devil.:poke:

that does it; darned it, honey.

you made up my mind what gitfiddle i'm taking tomorrow for my set.

i'm playing my tele on my microcube... you went and agitated me, or something. [snicker]

[groan... wait, can i take my augusta, too? and storm? are we taking two trucks?] :D

Music Room

The room sure does look PURDY!!!! :D

As to new gits.....in order to properly finish off the bottom row.....y'all need a RESO.......preferably with a single biscuit cone and an ALL metal body.......but seeein' that both of you love/were raised on "country" music, a "spider cone" wood-bodied RESO will most likely draw your attention........hmmmmmmm.....but for the ultimate in drawing attention, and something that isn't as harsh sounding as the biscuit cone....ta-da, a metal bodied tri-cone would do the trick like no other git.....just on LOOKS alone, a tri-cone is the MAGNET above all other gits.....:rotflmao:

Haha, true dat! So great not to have to rent a warehouse or bug neighbors with band practices!

The pics of the music room look great guys!

Hey Shiner and CB,,,

I have been waiting for a while to further document this latest foray into the duskier aspects of Guitar Ownership. Things are looking very good. I am sure that you already have spots for mike stands and a small table for the recording equipment. Chairs without arms.

From the good days of "the other forum", a lot of us have watched each other, grow their guitar toolbox. Ii is my opinion that you have the accoustic market fairly well cornered down there. You have talked about the mandolin and I am sure that one will arrive.

Who would have guessed it, back then, that there would be music rooms and small studios in the near future??? All I can say is, I hope that the Fostex opens up new doors for you guys.

Congrats,,,

Steve

I'm going to have to get moving on making space in the music room here. I entered contests for a Casino, two different LP's, an SG, and recently a Carvin X100B full stack and custom shop guitar. I have to figure out where to put all this stuff. Despite what is sure to be Mudcat's confidence that he is going to win the the Carvin package, I think it's headed my way.

Last time I made this kind of statement, it pertained to a Fender American Strat and someone elso here ended up winning it. So Mudcat, if you win, you owe me.

Looks great, shiner! :AOK:

Do you humidify the room?

Thanks y'all!:)

Plank, in the summer our relative humidity stays between 40-50% so there hasn't been a problem. In the winter when we use the heater it drops down to as low as 20-25%. Traditionally I've been casing them with humidifiers in the winter, but I think I'm going to look for another solution. We keep this door to this room closed during the day, so hopefully I can find a room humidifier or something relatively inexpensive.

Shiner, a few questions.

1) what is the size of that room?

2) Where did you get the Hurcules hangers from? Did you look at any others?

I still can't get use to "heater", don't you have a furnace? I mean for a place like Waco that gets those major snowstorms that shut down the city when the snow dust gets over an 1/8 of an inch, one must have a furnace.

I use a little Kenmore room humidifier in my music room during the bone dry winter and it works great. I keep the room between 45 and 50 percent RH.

Strum, the room is probably about 12' x 13'. I got the hangers from Musicians Friend (sorry Rocket). I looked at a lot of hangers, but I finally went with these for three reasons. They hold the guitars away from the wall so there is less chance of banging them on the wall, you can slant the guitars so at some point in the future I can move them closer together and get more up there, and finally they have the locking system which I really like.

Thanks for the heads up on the humidifier Plank. I'll check it out.

Another humidifier tip for ya, Shinester: the one I got at K-Mart for $30 is a 'cool-mist' type that has a demineralization cartridge. This minimizes the 'white dust' in the mist. I also use distilled water in the tank. Same reason, cleaner mist, also helps the machine from collecting gunk.

STRUM....I am laughing my butt off in Philly....a "heater" is what we have in Philly. Natural gas is piped into it and that is what heats our houses. "Furnaces" are things of by-gone years (at least 50 yrs) when COAL was used to heat our houses. I suspect that WACO is at least modern enough to have "heaters" and not "furnaces". :rotflmao:
The last known "furnace" to exist in Waco was the Branch Davidian complex, right?
Just bustin' your chops Strum!! :D
Do you heat with COAL Strum? I would think Cleveland would have progressed to having something other than coal. If it's some kind of a gas, then those things are usually referred to as "heaters". "Furnaces" are generally things that you manually put stuff into, like coal, firewood, etc.
Just about everyone in Philly heats with either natural gas or oil. Outside of Philly, in some of the suburban areas, you might see some people with propane tanks in their yard. No COAL though. :rotflmao:
