My latest tube quest

Buying NOS tubes on Ebay can be a craspshoot, but I took a chance and placed a bid on a quad of RCA 12AX7As (gray plates). Of course I have no idea on how long they’ll last, but they all sound great for now. Considering what these things are going for these days, I think a snagged a pretty good deal for $53. Heck, if I get good mileage with just one them, it’s worth it.

So, when I’m shooting for a vintage vibe, the overdrive channel sounds so sweet with:

V4-SOVTEK LP
V5-PENTA CHINESE
