Finally made up my mind and decided on this one. I'd been playing it, along with several other Strats, for over a month at a local shop in town. I had considered a Classic 60s Strat and a Classic 60s Players Strat as well but everytime I picked this one up it just called out to me....plus I really did want a 50s style Stratocaster. I love this color.....

Looks great man! What pickups are in it?

The pups are stock "Vintage Style Staggered Alnicos" from Fender. They sound pretty good. Very Jimi'ish I would say. First thing I did though was put a treble bleed on the volume pot and it helped clean up the range when you turn it down.

SWEETNESS!! I love that color, too, esp. w/ the maple neck.

We want clips! We want clips! We want clips....(obnoxious chanting continues ad nauseum) :DR

The color is beautiful in natural light. I didn't want to post flash pics of it but I couldn't wait. I'll work on some sounds this week Voo using the ZYS!

hahaha Speaking of reverb I maxed out the Classic 30 amph reverb and played a desert dweller's interpretation of "surf" just for the occasion. :)

Good for you.. now go and wax that board (not the beard.. ouch) and show us some sweet surf licks.

Tone!!!!!! that is Sweeet!! That was your color you so wanted, isn't it? I love the look and am sure it sounds great too. Congrats!

Tusq nuts are cheap...$6.00. One will probably be installed in the near future but I don't feel an immediate need for one right now so no biggie.

My point exactly...so why not OEM? AND that $6 is retail!!!

3 nuts later I still havent found anybody who can cut one of any value to me...and I dont believe Im being difficult either...so I feel no immediate wanton need to have one replaced either...I just think its a shame that your new beauty gets the same nut as my $100 Squier.

Actually I've seen the nuts they put on the Squier '51s and those REALLY look bad. They're also cut pretty badly too you can still see the frayed edges on some of them. For some reason I think they're a different kind of plastic than the ones Fender puts on their guitars because the Squier nuts are really white in appearance whereas the Fender nuts look ivory.

I agree in that Fender should at least put better nuts on their guitars but that cuts into their profit margin I guess. Not a big deal though for me. I've already installed 2 Tusq pre-cut nuts on my other Fenders and it was so cheap and easy to do.

Wipeout! Nice color tone! Looks sweet.. Are you wearing colored floral shirts and wearing sandals? ;) Really nice... could not have picked a better color for the 50's...

Thanks Justa! What with the weather warming up over here sandals are definately in order. Floral shirts are on order. ;) Thanks for compliment on the color I have to agree....Surf Green just says 1950s.

She's a beaut Tone , classic colors and ya gotta love maple neck strats .. Personally I would not worry too much about the nut issue , as you say 6 bucks and a little elbow grease if you feel like it .. anyway beautiful axe and congrats .

I'm with you on this one. I understand trying to keep costs down but that seems a bit silly. FWIW, my Showmaster listed for $899 and came with a graphite nut. A poorly cut graphite nut, but graphite nonetheless.

Oh man, just when I finally got my Tele fix, you and Robert have to get new Strats and show them off!

I can't take this much GAS!

Congrats. Luv the color (or "colour" in Canuk)!

Weird, I just watched Stranger Than Fiction with my wife & kids last night.

The main character (who plays the main character in a novel in the film) breaks out of his dull IRS personality & buys a strat which is that exact same color (or colour).

Midlife crisis Tone? ;) :D
