I like the amph to brother.I like suhr guitars and know they are great guitars .That being said I personally hate the headstock:thwap:

Just my silly opinion as they are quality fo-sho:AOK:

Check out the videos (and photos) from Fender @ NAMM - The one with Greg Koch and Friends has some great playing and he appears to be playing thru one of the new amps - the Band-Master one - very nice - more GAS for those running low :thwap:

Gil

Egnater Rebel 30 combo, channel switching (good), digital reverb (ugh).

I hope I never meet a real hedgehog that aggressive, I take it they weren't thinking of Mrs. Tiggywinkle during the design process :)

Just a quick NAMM report. Jetlag and pounding the floor has left me duller than usual but here are some quick impressions...

1). Carr amps are very nice. I want one.

2). Peerless Guitars from Korea. Some very nice hollowbody guitars, Very well made, very nice prices. Would love to hear from anyone who owns one.

3). I agree Mudcat about the Suhr headstock. I never liked it either but the guitars are otherwise undeniably stunning. I like their T-shirts too so I bought 2...:AOK:

Caught Yngwie Malmsteen:rockon: wowing the faithful on video. I'll try and post something when I get home.

My '05 Epi Casino is a Peerless and it's Flawless.;)

My Local GAS Station owner was at the show yesterday (90 miles away), doing what he and so many California dealers do every year: scoring deals with various manufacturers from out of the area on buying out their display models (so they can save on packing & shipping them back home).

He goes with a 'wish list' from his regular customers. Nothing from me on his list this year, but he'll be back at the store today. If I'm done early enough with my Saturday Honey-Do List, I plan to stop in and see what he's got coming back on Monday for his Annual NAMM 50% Off Sale.

I know this much: for the first time in at least 12 years, partially due to the economy, but mainly due to consistently poor quality, factory-defective guitars for the past year and a bad attitude about making good on their warranty by USA Music, he's NOT buying the Washburn/Oscar Schmidt booth, but may score some Randall amps. Last year, he bought enough Gretsch and Schecter to open with them as a Dealer.

Syo, did you get a chance to try the Mack amps? Please do if you can and let us know what you think!
No Robert, I haven't had a chance yet but I will try tomorrow (sunday) and file a report. Thanks for reminding me.

Syo, did you take any pics?
yeah, I took a few tOt. After I get back from the show I'll post them. Anything in particular you care to see?

Well, NAMM is finished and I have traded the sunny, 80 degree L.A. winter for the hazy, 17 degree Beijing version. I'll post thoughts, pics and video when I get home, but for now a few preliminaries.

Finally tracked down Mack at the show. They did not have their own booth but had one of their combos in the Eastwood Guitars booth. Didn't play on one myself but Wendell of Eastwood was demoing an Eastwood Tuxedo on it while I was there. I talked with Don Mackrill, Chief Tone Officer (that's what it says on the card). Very nice guy and quite passionate about his product. His amps (or amphs if you prefer) are presented as basically boutique amps for "the rest of us" (my quotes). He eschews high priced components believing they are unnecessary and opts instead for "off-the-shelf, reliable parts" (his quotes). I must say though that what I was heard when Wendell was playing didn't grab me. Not really my sound. After the show I checked Mack's website and listened to the sound files. Perhaps if you hear them and like what you hear then they might be for you, but what I heard at the show was similar and to me it lacked a certain warmth and depth that I prefer. One other thing, If I'm not mistaken I believe Don said that he doesn't offer reverb on any of his units. Neither good or bad, just depends on you.

Tell me please Robert, have you played with a Mack? If so, what did you think?

Syo, yes I have a Heatseeker 18 watt head. I get some great tones with it. Lots of videos on my website with it.

Do you indeed? Well then, I loved it ;)
But seriously I will definitely check your vids out. A busy convention floor with volume restrictions is admitedly not the best place to evaluate such equipment. That being said, a couple other "boutique" amps, most notably the Carr, grabbed me right away. Of course Carrs are a bit more expensive and are designed to sound great at low volumes.

Brother did you peek the prs amps???Does anyone know suggested prices on these!! :whatever: I bet real high boutique prices

Surely, Mr. Reed Smith wouldn't do that. I'm positive he'll make them super affordable. :whatever: :rotflmao:
