Hi Gang. I stumbled across this last night.

"All new for 2009, The XV-560 Series takes our XV-550 style body- Solid Mahogany, two acoustic chambers, THICK solid maple top with incredible quilt figuring and two F holes and adds a pair of our INCREDIBLE GFS Alnico Soapbar P90 pickups. The result is a stunning looking Blues Machine with the sweetest, roundest, fattest tone. From hard edged classic rock to syrupy blues licks- the 560 has it covered. The top is solid Maple, and we include premium appointments like heavy duty chrome bridge and tailpiece, full sized Alpha band potentiometers and smooth, 14:1 sealed tuning machines."

H'mm,
Semi hollow - tick
P90's - tick
Quilted maple cap - tick

Only $249 - tickticktickticktick

Why would anyone -not- buy one of these?

Uh oh! Ch0jin you shouldn't have posted that. It's a GAS inducer and I'm trying to keep it under control. Damn.

Well I counted up all my pennies (OK so we have not actually had pennies since the 50's but anyway) and I thought it'd be sweet to say I bought a cool guitar with my pocket change. (err, I had close to $600 and 45KG in change...oops)

But then the exchange rate head butted me. :thwap:

$249 + case + shipping then convert to AUD = over $800 AUD

Sigh. It's no longer a cheap guitar.

By way of value comparison I offer this...

http://www.northcoastguitars.com.au/escritotele.html

As new MiM 2006 Fender Palo Escrito Telecaster. Real unique looking, limited run and thanks to that look and the fender logo, infinitely more resalable, and it's $995.

Sigh.....

Anyway, people seem to be avoiding this GAS inducing thread so it's safe to mention another little find a colleague shared with me without you guys snapping up all the bargains :)

http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/

Loads of new and used Japanese and USA made guitars at what appears to be quite decent pricing.

Yes the site is in Japanese but if you click the "english" button it gets translated into some of the most hilarious "Engrish" I've seen in ages.

Lucky for me I work with Japanese guys so I can get real translations, but anyway, thought you guys might appreciate the info.
