Here's my new Welch WG-65 LP copy. Honeyburst plain top (I'd been GASing for a plain top). Made in China, presumably. Mahogany body and neck, 5/8" maple cap, rosewood fretboard, bone nut. Weighs in at a robust 11 pounds (oh my showwwldah!). I had to intonate it (treble strings wouldn't stay in tune), but the action was good. The Wilkinson alnico humbuckers sound pretty good to my ears, but I will probably install a Burstbucker 3 that I have on hand into the bridge. Plays nicely, though I haven't had much time to play it (just last night). Not sure if it's my overly critical eye, but the pearloid fret inlays look a little crooked to me, as does the headstock logo. The finish is very nice. I was wanting a change from the slim profile neck on my Agile. The neck on this Welch is supposedly comparable to a Gibson 60s slim neck (which is thicker than an Agile slim taper). I like the feel of the neck. It's time to head down to the music room and test her out a little more...
Here's the p0rn...
