This might not be the perfect place for this, as it's not really a review. I was doing some writing this morning and I thought I'd do something on Squier guitars and a little bit of a camparison against some of the Fender models. Of course, I ran out of time before I could get anywhere near finished, but here's what I got done.

Pretty fair assessment IMO.
I have noticed most of the CV's I've picked up and looked over in the local music store have very little or no fret sprout.
They do, however, need the truss rod tightened, always having a bow in the neck, resulting in too high and action.
The store does no setup, the guitars are just out of the box, as is.
OTOH, a lot of the Am. series I've looked at have noticeable fret sprout, which drives me bonkers.
I hate buying a guitar and then having to file the edge of every fret on the board. I did that w/ a Squier '51, which
otherwise was a good little axe.
I think you have to evaluate each guitar on its own merit. Made in the U.S. doesn't guarantee quality, just as made in China doesn't mean cheap junk (at least not in guitars nowadays).
