Our New Rig

Not really a product review (yet) as we haven't really put it thru all it's paces, but so far it looks like pretty good bang for the buck. Here's what we picked up for "The Barley Boys":

Peavey PV14 Mixer

Peavey PV1500 Power Amp

Peavey PV215 Speakers

Plus a couple of 12" monitors I eBay'ed from Cross Audio.

We'll power the monitors with an old Peavey XR-400 head that I already have. So far everything looks and sounds awesome. Should be more than enough power for small to medium sized gigs. At practice today we ran my guitar (from my RP-80) and the bass straight into the board. Sounds good and less gear to haul around!

Can't beat ol' Peavey for durability and bang for the buck. Even with cables, mics and misc. we still came in well under 3Gs. Should have 'er pretty much paid off in 5 or 6 gigs.

Mid Life Crisis doesn't own a PA? I guess I'm confused are the Barley Boys a *new* band? I thought it was just a new moniker for MLC.

Congrats on the new gear though!

You should get an endorsement deal from Peavey.

Yeah, congrats! Remember to record yourselves as both Mid Life Crisis and as Barley Boys. Barley Boys is the smaller 3 piece version I take it?

"The Barley Boys" is our 3 pc. The fourth member of MLC is also the guy who owns the PA (much bigger system) and is reluctant to do smaller gigs for less cash or "just for sh*ts and giggles".

"The Barley Boys" purchased this gear between the three of us.

It's gonna be interesting juggling the interests of 2 bands - I'm really starting to appreciate Plank-Spanker's "herding cats" reference

In the long run, I think the 3 pc will be more fun and, oddly enough, focused as the 3 of us are really on the same page. MLC is the "show band" - for the time being anyway.
