Painting my guitar

I refinished this guitar by staining and shellacking it. Now I'm tired of it and rather have a solid color. I think it'll look better then.

I already have a red guitar and a brown (walnut) guitar so I'm thinking of a color that'll look good on that shape. I'm thinking white but I don't know just yet.

Can you guys envision a cool color for that guitar? :dance

EDIT: It's a Buck Dharma Harper guitar and I thought white because he wears white and his cheeseberger (Steinberger) is white also.

While I don't like white on some guitars, I think it would look great on that body.

Maybe a white colored stain with the grain showing through!!! What wood is that?? Looks like Mahog..............I like the water based colors in clear base or white base!! Those blues and green are so cool.Finish with a satin water based wipe on urethane or the satin polycrylic!!!(It comes in a spray can and is fast!!!) Mahog is personally one of my favorites beside swamp ash/crotch swamp ash and swamp/bald /burled cypress!!(think new-orleans guitar company) :socool

Did you ever see flip flop paints Kiteman?
They can be outrageous
the color changes drastically depending on the light and the angle from which the object is viewed

You'll do what you want of course, but I can't recommend any paint for that guitar. I really like natural finishes, and I think it looks nice as is.

I did too eric but I tire of it. I have a walnut guitar that I'm going to leave as it is. I'd like a solid color with a clear coat over it. I didn't like the way the upper horn looked in relation to the rest. To me it looked like a sore thumb.

It is mahogany.

Daphne Blue. Or Seafoam Green. That kind of guitar has a fifties flair to it and I think it would look pretty cool. If you really wanted to go all out a Coral Pink would be nice as well.
I really like the Daphne Blue though.

Is Krylon good paint? I see different kinds of paint in there and I saw some colors that's interesting.

I'm not to familiar with Krylon except for little paint projects around the house.
ReRanch has a great product line, including old Fender colors. They also have a page on their website with lots of tips on painting and refinishing.
I stripped and refinished a guitar last year using their lacquer and following their tips and I was really happy with the way it turned out.
I think reading their 'tips' page would be worth the time no matter what you use.

I did what Zman suggested, I went with Daphne
Another thing I would recommend looking in to is Micro Mesh. I got that finish without any machine buffing, just hand sanding with Micro Mesh

Sigh, looks like I'm gonna drop the project. I can't decide on a color and the fellas at another forum had beaten me down not to do it. One made a good point saying painting it will affect the tone. He may be right as I have a sweet tone the way it is now.
