This is the first of 3 podcasts on the different routes you can take to progress as a player on the guitar. I figured that this was really too long for one video but I'd like to do the whole thing so I'm going to crank out 3 parts to this and not one but TWO "Lick of the Weeks"

Friday - Bonus Lick of the Week - the regular Thursday LOTW has been primarily blues based so the Friday one is going to be pretty different....I haven't decided exactly what yet but it'll be either something really shreddy or something to build thicker textures in your solos/lead lines/guitar parts.

I'm glad you guys are digging it....it's new ground for me to teach even though these are the concepts that I use in my studio...I mentioned on Harmony Central tonight that I hope you guys let me know if this stuff is coherent enough to get the ideas across...

Thanks! I used to be very rigid in how I taught students but I made the realization that every individual has a different set of needs and abilities and needs to be treated as such. I have ways of getting certain ideas across that work for MOST students but there are always situations where I need to adapt what I do to get an idea across.

Honestly you really need to check a few folks out. Most people just go with the first teacher they meet and wonder why they can't learn to play.

First off, thank you for this series of highly useful information. There is something for everyone here, even if it is something we don't want to hear! Making the time spent practicing more efficient and productive is important for all of us.

In this segment, the tight versus loose practice time was something I needed to hear. In the future, I'll replay this series as needed.

I'm glad you liked it. I think that the series as a whole might have been a bit long winded for a lot of folks but I think I got my points across...
