UGH!! I know that I'm torturing myself with this stuff. ahahaha OK, I plan on getting a solid state amp (Behringer) as opposed to a tube amp. So, seeing that I get a certain amount of bells and whistles with a solid state amp; would the Bad Monkey, TubeScreamer type pedals still be worth while?
 
Hey, there, PBP :) Good to see ya here.

The FX presets on the Behringers are useful to a point...depends, really, on your needs & tastes. But as with any amp with built FX they're pretty limited compared to the ways you can tweak parameters on specific pedals. Some amps' FX modules are more 'tweakable', but still, not the same thing. Distortion and Overdrive FX are particularly in the 'Holy Grail' realm...
