*EDIT* I feel stupid... I thought this looke familiar. congrats on the bass.

Well, Eric, any updates yet? I clicked on the link, and the post is down.
Looks like you found the other thread, but yeah I got it for $400. Haven't had much time with it yet, but I definitely like what I've seen of it.

So I've listed some miscellaneous stuff on CL, and one guy wants to buy my Kustom powered monitor ($120 new, listed for $70) and Behringer HA100 headphone amp (like $30 new, listed for $15). He also mentioned that he has a Behringer Ultrabass BX3000T bass head that he would trade straight-up for that stuff if I wanted, otherwise he'd pay cash.

So is that a good deal? I know it's Behringer and all, so I'm inclined to just take the cash, but you guys probably know better than I do what a good deal would be.

Update: I decided to take the cash instead of the bass head. I'm too leery of Behringer to pull the trigger on something like that. Plus, it's nice to clear out some inventory.

I realize you made your decision not to go with the Behringer, but I thought I'd mention that I had a Behringer GM110 analog modeling guitar amp, thirty ss watts, that I wish I still had. Can't find another new one and should look for a good used one I suppose. This was a really nice amp that I had absolutely no problems with. It actually got very good reviews from owners.

That bass head might not be a bad deal, if everything works on it. Supposedly they make some better stuff than they get credit for. I think they make Bugera as well.

Anyway, the bass head would be free from any problems associated with the speakers, needless to say. It would just be an amplifier section and combined with a decent cabinet it might be a good bargain, especially for your limited use.

My general belief is to get as high quality electronic equipment as you can afford to get the anticipated job done, so avoiding this unit for a better one might be a good idea. I just wanted to let you know that I was very happy with my behringer guitar amp - for what it was it was great.

On the other hand, I have a really nice bass practice amp - my Marshall MB30, thirty watt RMS solid state with two channels, normal and overdrive. It has a manually adjustable compression control, three voices, and a lot of tone shaping. It has a ten inch speaker and it totally holds the B string on a five string bass if you ever decide to get one of those. The five string bass requires a lot more from the amp and speaker than a four string. I use mine mainly with my four string basses and when I hook up my Zoom B2.1u multipedal I have more variety of great tones than the average person could ever want, but I usually play it straight in, it sounds that good and has that much tone shaping ability. It costs 199 at the big internet places or places that price match.

I also am lucky to have two other larger bass amps. I bought a Fender Rumble 100 fifteen inch when I got back into bass and just a couple weeks ago got my old mid 80's Peavey TNT 115 two hundred watt combo back from my son. That old Peavey combo is a beautiful bass amp, heavy but in mint condition and produces a beautiful array of sounds. It isn't portable like my Marshall. That little Marshall has just enough volume to make a great at home practice amp and has good line out capabilities. I would suggest to anyone looking for a small bass amp to check out those relatively new design Marshalls. They really do a nice job and are not more expensive than the competition but seem to me at least, to do a better job of being a good little bass amp. The tone on that little Marshall will surprise you, plus it has a range of sounds that make it very desirable and useful. I should put my computer interfaces to work and make some sound clips. The little Marshall would definitely do justice to your awesome bass, at least at home or lined out.

I missed a '94 MiM Squier Series strat this weekend...he was only asking $120. I called at 8AM on Saturday (he put it up Saturday morning), but someone was already scheduled to come pick it up on Monday.

HardTails are really good guitars. I've played a few and really like them. $450 is no steal though. That seems about average for a used one.

This seems like a pretty decent deal: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/msg/2358094545.html

If I was in the market for another guitar, I'd probably consider it. I particularly like the combo of 85 bridge / 60 neck. Any input on the value of this guitar?

For $65, go for it unless you are in the "I don't need ANY more amphs" Club.

I'd buy it if I saw it near here.

Well, I've been looking for a Roland Micro Cube for a little while to put under a table in the living room or something, so I guess I can't claim that I don't want any amps. I guess my question is whether this would be a better choice than the Micro Cube.

From what I've read about the Fender Mustangs they sound like some terrific amps. I'm tempted to get one just so I have one. The software and the hookup just sweeten the deal.

If you do get it get the stuff with it.

EDIT: by the way, all Fender amps I had/have have been good stuff. I still have my Fender Rumble 25 bass amp. It's a keeper.

Found a local one barely used, in box for $70. I might just do it myself!
He had it listed a month ago for $85, but is now taking $70. Hmmmm...

Well, I have a deal to get it tomorrow for $60, so I guess it's NAD(P) -- New Amph Day (Pending). Hopefully this is a good one!

Darn you guys. :hungry

I'll wait and see what y'all got to say before I get me one. Of course it'll be new. :D

So did you get this? If so, what do you think?

I got it last night. I didn't have much time to play with it, and I didn't know how the controls worked at the time. I like what I heard for the most part. It sounds much better than it should, even before any updates or customizing.

Today I read the quick start guide, so I understand it now. I am currently downloading the Ableton recording app, which is huge. I already downloaded the Fuse app and updated the amp's BIOS. I'll have to spend some more time with everything though.

Later, I'll test my spare Jenson MOD 8" speaker against the stock one to see if there is any worthwhile difference. The Jenson speaker only cost about $26, so who knows. If I want to really change it, I'll throw in a 10" speaker, which will fit without any cab mods.

What about this Schecter Corsair semi-hollow for $395? I've been wanting to get my hands on a semi-hollowbody, but don't have the $500+ it seems to take to get a good one. The reviews on this seem pretty good, anyone have personal experience? http://kansascity.craigslist.org/msg/2536330793.html I'll probably be in KC pretty soon as my niece just had a baby and the wife can't wait to get her hands on it.

I know nothing about those Schecters, but it's pretty. What's it go for new? Ah, looks like $800. I suppose that's a pretty good deal then. I like the location of the pickup selector. Hopefully someone will chime in who knows something about those guitars.

My wife paid $375 for my Ibanez Artcore. It was in impeccable condition, but i think she overpaid. Offer the guy $300, unless you play it and it REALLY speaks to you. Because if you go to sell it, you'll have a tough time getting more than $300 for it.

At half the MF price I'd say it's a fair deal. It looks great and I would not expect it to sit around long. Might be smart to contact the guy and tell him you will be coming to town to look at it and ask him to hold it for you. Might work.

I'm sure you would be happy with it if it is in great playable shape. I have a Schecter semi hollow C-1 E/A that is super beautiful and plays great. I put real SD pickups in it, JB/59 nickel covered. Awesome stereo guitar.

That is definitely a nice looking guitar, but playing it and looking it over would be the real test of value.

Good luck on that one and don't expect it to sit around long.

Well, I was too late on the Schecter, but I did just grab my first pedal! It's a Way Huge Foot Pig fuzz pedal for $30! I thought they went for about $300 and when I saw the CL ad I figured I'd call and he'd say it was a typo. Nope, I got it for $30! I was worried it was stolen, but the guy acted like he's used it for awhile. He only had one other pedal and he could play pretty good.

From the samples I heard on the web, I like the Foot Pig more than the Swollen Pickle.

The Fuzz knob is a little scratchy, the plug in cord is broken, and it's missing three screws from the bottom when he changed the battery, but it works great. Looks new, just dusty.

Local store in Kent has a Blues Jr, used. It's got some wear, but it's covered in tweed which is cool. He's asking $250. It's pretty tempting.

That sounds like a good price. I'm personally a fan of SS amps these days -- I don't feel as bad about cycling the power, since there's no real heat-up time. I need to get a place where I can play loud and use tubes.

I've read enough about that issue Eric. I'm convinced that standby switches are superfluous and the on/off cycle's effect on tubes is negligible. Tubes are cheap. If they were 100 bucks a piece, I'd worry. But they aren't. Also, I'm pretty sure that amp I mentioned is a Pro Jr. It was hard to read the tag last night, it was dark and I had a few beers in me. (The music shop is also a beer bar/live music dive). Still, if he'd take 200 for a Pro Jr., I'd take it.

Oh, I wasn't commenting on whether you should buy or not with that side note...just rambling about whatever came to mind. I actually haven't read much of anything on tubes heating up -- I just know that it does take them a little while to heat up, since I can't hear anything from the speaker until they do. Care to enlighten me on what you've read?

I do a lot of flipping on and off of my amp though, so until I'm more concerned with good tones I'm actually pretty happy with a puny SS amp for practicing.
