Polarity of Black/White speaker wire

That's what I thought, but after googling about & asking an electrician friend. It seems that either there's no standard or the it's common that black goes to positive & white to ground. :messedup:
 
Doesn't matter as long as each of the ends goes to the matching polarity.
 
Like in a lot of things, consistency is more important than accuracy.

I was hoping that there was a standard so I could determine this. I guess that there isn't.

I got a response from the manufacturer of my amp. He wires white to + and black to -.
