The issue with these amps is that Fender chose to use 1/4W resistors in the amp instead of 1/2W.

I'm not trying alarm anyone, because the amp will work well and will be safe to use, but these underrated resistors may cause a problem on down the line.

If it were my amp, I would replace the 1/4W resistors with 1/2 rated ones. I would replace the 12AX7 plate loads with 100k, 1W metal film resistors. I found a brand at Mouser that are indeed 1W rated, but are the size of 1/4W resistors.

Of course, this will mess with your tone, so if you really like the stock tone of your amp, wait until it develops problems before replacing (if it ever does.)

Fender used to use 1 watt resistors everywhere which was overkill but increased the reliability of their amps. Of course that was back in Leo's day.
