I play in a hobby band, so far strictly for fun. Our drummer couldn't make it this last Sunday so we decided to play around with recording to figure out what we need to set up. To keep things as simple as possible the bass and my guitar are plugged directly into a mixer, so are the singer's keyboards and guitar. We used a drum machine since we didn't have a drummer. I used my cheap little digital 8-track which can only record up to 2 tracks at a time, so all instruments are mixed down to just 2 stereo channels. With this recording setup there is not very much I can do in post-processing to clean up or fix anything.
Apart from the simplistic setup, any crappiness you hear from the recording is really just us, LOL.
