Refinishing a maple fretboard

I recently resurfaced and refreted a mim tele maple neck. I didn't touch any part of the neck below the fret surface so I'd like to match the color as much as I can. How thick or thin should I make the finish. The original finish appears to be semi gloss so what finish should I use, the stew mac or?
