Jerry Leiber, one of America's most influential songwriters, passed yesterday.

Whether or not you know it, you are more than likely aware of many of the songs Leiber wrote (many with writing partner Mike Stoller).

Here are a few of the most well known but go ahead and do some googling, the guy wrote so many songs that were the basis of the earliest days or rock and roll. You sure as heck couldn't have grown up with my dad for a father and not known who Leiber and Stoller were.

Wow, talk about a big name with a huge song writing legacy. It was said that Jerry didn't exactly love what Elvis did to his songs.

Also, Nick Ashford of the Motown songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson died. Another great legacy that shaped music.

Yeah, I was actually preparing a bunch of Nick Ashford vids as well.
Between Leiber and Ashford one could make an excellent playlist that could last several days.
Yesterday was a very sad day for fans of classic songwriters.
