Well It has come to my attention that my strat doesn't cut it for the type of music I play. Usually my Ibanez works fine but we play alot of Drop D stuff and doing that on a locking tremolo is a B!&*. So what would you guys suggest? I have the original dimarzio humbucker that came with the strat.

I'd go with a Douglas Spad or an SX GG4 from Rondo.

What's the Strat not cutting?

An relatively inexpensive move would be to drop a HB in your Strat. You could probably go with two HB's with a pick guard swap and if your body is routed HSH (probably is).

If you do drop HB's in your Strat, choose wisely. Bright sounding pickups can be overly bright and harsh in a Strat. You might end up swapping pots in the process.

The locking trem will only be an issue if a) it's floating and b) you want to swap between drop-D and standard tuning constantly. You could go the EVH way and block it and put a D-tuna on it--although that might only work with an OFR.

yeah I've looked at those and it won't fit the ZR trem

Depends on your disposable income situation, perhaps.

If refitting the original HB will do the trick, that's what I would do. No muss, no fuss, and NO expense.

Sounds to me like you might be finding an excuse to buy another git...? If you have the $, go that route.

Right now, I'm flush on extra disposable cash, so, as I said, I'd drop the HB back in, and, if you're still GAS-ing, then buy another ax.
