Short Scale Conversion

Can one convert a regular bass into a short scale ?? What would it consist of doing. Checking for a friend

check with Warmoth(sp) and ALLPARTS...they have conversions for shorter or longer scale necks for guitar...and they MIGHT have them for basses...its a start at least.
