for those of you who play slide with a stop tail, how are you setting it up?

String gauge?
action?

I'm new to this. I went with a heavy set of strings and let the added tension settle the neck, but the action is way to high, and the strings are impossible to bend etc. Just really uncomfortable.

I'm doing this on an a HB-35, which is a MIJ ES335 clone. Typical TonePro type stoptail

If the action is set up properly a gauge of 10-52 is enough ! I use that gauge on my Telecaster and in OpenD it's working fine :AOK
