Way back in the mid '80's I worked at a local blues bar. The owner called me into his office and asked if I'd listen to a demo tape of someone he was thinking of booking.
After about 5 minutes I said "Hell yes book this guy! Who is he?" The owner said it is some guy named Robert Cray, he does not have a record out yet but one will be released in a couple of months.
He was booked for two nights and just blew the place away. I think every woman in the bar fell in love with him those two nights.
I was able to talk to him even though he is somewhat shy. I told him he was going to be very hot and he thanked me and said he hoped so because he worked very hard on the album.
John Haitt is one of my favorite guitarist/performers, I've seen him in concert more that any other performer in my life.
What a vocalist Cray is, huh?
