Spotted a Yamaha SA-30 (?) for the 60's in action

A band from central America played at our local folk festival, and lead guitar player had what I think was a 1960s Yamaha SA-30, the one with factory Bigsby-ish tremolo.

Quite tasty.
I wonder if the were popular back then?
