Squier Standard Strat vintage ~2000

Does anyone have any opinions on Squier Standard Strats from the early 2000s? I have an opportunity to pick one up cheap. I've wanted a Gilmour-esque black strat for awhile now and this one is black with maple fretboard. The seller says it needs some TLC/setup but said that the frets are good and that the body doesn't have any chips. Is it worth $65 with the little practice amp included?
