Came across a couple of interesting photos, so I thought I'd post 'em here. Not sure I can remember ever seeing a photo of Stevie playing a Gibson, but....

i might be wrong but i seem to remember that as far as the lp goes....i don't think it belonged to him....someone asked stevie if he would play theirs and he did....

can't remember where i heard the story...maybe it was in a dream!!

You know that with the scale of the LP the only way he'd be happy with it is if it is strung with bass stings. How thick would that sound?

His hero, Albert King, played a Gibson V, albeit left-handed. When I first heard Albert King, I was amazed at how much SRV had gotten from him. Here's the Soul to Soul cover:

I noticed the similarities as well. It was shocking at first and initially thought it was cheap to imitate someone else, but then I realized how much soul was coming through and that I have done the same thing. So who was I to think that? Nobody.

I had forgotten about the cover of Soul To Soul. I usually think of Stevie with a Strat.

Those pictures are totally new to me. Stevie was the typical Strat player and I can not imagine him playing a Gibson. I still can not get used to see Jimi playing a gibson or even Rory Gallagher....

I am pretty sure that Stevie sounded like Stevie even with a Les Paul.

wow ted....is that yours and were you there to have them sign in it person...and if so i so hate you (just kidding!) :D :p :p :D

Hey Warren, yup, it's mine, a bday present from my lovely wife. I think I'll keep her. I don't know how she puts up with me ?!?!

cool...a friend gave me two pictures a friend of hers took at a srv concert that she had printed as 8x10's....nothing signed though...

I don't know about him sounding like SRV with a Gibson. The only guitar I can even come close to recreating his sound is with a Strat.

Humbuckers have to much of a heavy tone to do SRV properly.

Dayum he sounded trashed

But OMG! he sounded great.
