Most of you have probably seen this from Austin City Limits. I just ran into it and felt like I had to post this here. It's SO GOOD! :bravo:
The sound quality and picture quality is also way better than on youtube. Unfortunately I can't embed the video here though.

Here is the link on Google video: SRV - Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)

His playing here is just phenomenal. I just love when I hear SRV play Hendrix. He did it so well without sounding like a copy cat.

Curious question - what gear do you think he was using here? He's got a great Octavia sound as well as a really good Wah tone.

Here's an SRV FAQ, I cannot vouch for its correctness.

Thats interesting reading 'Marbby' ;) thanks for posting that I haven't seen this yet. I clicked on the bottom link www.srvcatalog.com to take a gander at the famed SRV guitar strap for sale online at this section of the page 5.6.5 STEVIE'S GUITAR STRAP but up came one of those weirdo generic websites that lead to links and more links etc. The text of the original site you posted sounded pretty good though. I too wonder if that stuff is legit. Be cool if it was.

Stevie was always great, but I personally liked him best in the short time period when he recovered from his addictions and he kind of had his great comeback with In Step. His songwriting was fresher than on the other albums.

This version of Voodoo Child is the best cover version I've ever heard. Stevie really lived Jimi's songs when he played them and to me he was not just one of the million guys playing Voodoo Child....

Thanks for posting this - a great rendition! :master:
