Stringing a Les Paul

Guitar World had a section on how Billy Gibbons and Robert Plant put their strings from the pick-up side of the tail piece and then brought them up over the top. It is suposed to give it more tone and sustain. Just wondering if anyone has done this.

Wrapping the strings over the stop bar reduces the break angle over the bridge, and theoretically gives the strings a looser, slinkier feel. There have been countless discussions in many forums about the wraparound increasing the sustain, with the ayes equalling the nayes.

I've tried it and personally, I don't think it increases sustain, but that's just my opinion. YMMV..........................

It's certainly worth a try, but I never see bending as an issue with my Gibsons. To me, they bend at will..........................but I also play Strats, so I can see the difference.
