The 1x12 cabinet I ordered from AB Custom Audio through eBay was delivered today (as described in THIS THREAD), and it's a very nice piece of workmanship, indeed! Abe, the owner/builder, obviously does quality work! I ordered it with tweed tolex, an oxblood grill cloth and chrome hardware. Nice vintage look!

Check out the following photos I took. The last two show the cab with the Warehouse Guitar Speakers Veteran 30 12" speaker installed. This is WGS's version of the Celestion Vintage 30. Here are the first four pix:

I haven't done anymore than just mount the speaker and test that it worked at this point, but I'll post more once I've wrung it out a bit. Sure sounded good on the first few notes through it, though!

You can check out Abe's other cabinets for sale on eBay HERE....

That baby looks perfect to go under a Classic 30 or 20. Congratulations. Very nice.

Yeah, I was going to say, especially from the front, and with the removable panel out, it looks a lot like the Peavey Classic. Really nice! Might need to click the link to see if he builds a 4x10. Gawd, what am I saying??!! :rotflmao:

That's neat looking and I love the open back version. Is that electrical tape on the front photo at the bottom? Grill clips? That sucker's gonna sound good when that speaker breaks in. Play some music through it at a decent volume all day long when you're gone.

About the speaker. Is that a version of the Celestion Vintage 30? Isn't it supposed to level off the mid spike of the Celestion? That might be a good alternative later on for my Marshall. Some days I think one of my speakers is blown and then other days it sounds ok. Maybe my screws are loose or something. Cool cabinet yes I agree that would look great under a Classic 30. HEY I've got a Classic 30.....uhoh G.A.S!

Yeah, that was what I was thinking. Oh, Oh, hmm, can I figure out a cab that gets a kind of marshall sound if driven by the 30? Hmm.

Those are two loops of matching color ribbon for pulling the grill out from the front of the cab (it's attached with velcro). Can simply be tucked under the grill, if you don't want them to show.

Yes, it's WGS's "clone" of the Celestion Vintage 30, which they claim has a smoothed out upper-mid spike. And it's only $45 vs. the $110 - $120 that the Vintage 30 goes for. So if it's even close to the sound quality of the Celestion original--and from what I've read, it's VERY close--it's a steal at that price.

I realize I'm veering off the point of this thread a bit, but I was wondering about one of those WGS speakers as a replacement for the one in my AD30VT. The price is right, but their only 10" speaker is only rated at 20W.

Well, it looks pretty certain that Abe must be a former Lopoline employee who's started his own cabinet business. Lopoline is located in Victorville, CA (NE of LA, basically due north of Riverside), and that's exactly where UPS tracking shows that Abe's parcel originated! And take a look at Lopoline's 1x12 cabinet in the same color scheme:

Virtually identical to mine, except for the price. Abe charges $95 for his removable-back 1x12 cab, vs. $147 from Lopoline. A great value!

I could have bought the Lopoline version loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30 for $247. Using Abe's cabinet and the WGS Veteran 30 speaker, the price comes to $140! NICE SAVINGS!

You'd probably be fine with it, as long as you don't play your Vox wide open. My guess is that you probably don't. And I'll bet the maximum power rating on that speaker is quite conservative.
