Just wanted to say thanks to you all. I just dropped in a new wired pickguard from Guitar Fetish into my Squier Affinity strat, and even though it only required three little solder globs, I probably wouldn't have had the confidence or the ability to do the job if I hadn't read the experiences of others doing similar mods on this forum. So thanks! I'm glad I found you all.
What I've got in this guitar now is one very, very hot humbucker and one volume control on a tortoise pickguard. It sounds huge and fat and monstrous. I'm very happy. My neighbors less so.
I'm ready to replace the push/pull pot on my '51 next, and after that -- well, who knows what I might get a mind to solder together next.
