Rollin' and a Tumblin' through Life
I did a search and not much talk about the Blackstar HT 5s, so what the hey, I'll add my 2 cents worth.

One of our kids is a real phenom on the Guitar. Amazing, he'll sit and study music for hours every day. He's a dead ringer for a 12 year old Eric Clapton. They look amazingly identical.

Anyway:
I set out to get him the Mesa Mark 5 for his birthday this week.
About $2200, and that was for the floor demo model.

Though it's illegal to fair trade in Cali, Mesa does it anyway, and getting a break isn't going to happen.
So I lumped it.

The wife, who does all the thinking in this family, asked me to find something cheaper with some quality sound.

Hence, the Blackstar HT 5s.

Guitar Center was packed with Blues Contest contestants, but they had a kid in the back of the store fixing electrics on a work bench. He was really cool, put down his tools, and helped us select a suitable AMP.

The rumor is Blackstar is a company formed and run by former Mesa employees. Damfino, that's what I'm told. You can really get some clear quality bang for the buck. Very sturdy, and has some nice features I'll demo later in a You Tube.

Paid just a shade under $490 bucks U.S. Grind down from the asking $590.

Bustin' it outta the box:

Comes with all the wiring and the channel floor button.
The sound is supurb, and plenty of it for a 5 Watt tube type.

I'd wager it would be fine for your average cocktail lounge gig.
You can stack the speakers side by side and tuck it all under a kids computer table if, like in our case, space is an issue as it is here at Crestfallen Manor.

Part 2 will be a High Def You Tube and we'll show all the tricks.

I havent had the chance of trying out the HT5 but I have one of their pedals (HT drive) and I do love that one.. congrats!

V 'got one here ..I like it .. It s light-weight. Has Nice tones ...Just loud enough..

Inexpensive ,for now..

Will upgraded it with JJ tubes ..

Thanks for the takes.

I'm trying to be low profile with the kids interests.
I don't want to be a Little League/soccer dad pushing activities off on them that I wished I could'a had when I was a kid.

To my girls I'm just a big dog that talks, that sometimes gets in their way.
The boys,, I just observe what they love and try and provide the best I can.

If I had a a nice amp and guitar when I was a kid the rotation of the earth would'a slowed down. No living with me happy.

Nice to see my kids off the computer screen and TV, and instead exercising their little pea sized brains with reading sheet music, and playing music.

Sweet! I've been researching those since they came out. The latest GC circular seemed to imply that they'd actually be in stores now. I'll have to check one out.

BTW, Blackstar is in the UK and formed by former Marshall people.

Yeah, they've been online for a while in the States, but I want to hear one with my very own ears.
