Lemme just start by saying I used to see Tim O'Donnell playing drums for a buddy of mine named Josh Miller(another awesome bluesman)...we used to get a good laugh at Tim cause he always looked asleep at the wheel, BUT kept good time...he literally looked asleep/napping. A short time later we didnt see Tim anymore behind the drums(Josh usually has a revolving lineup) and later Id recived a Myspace bulletin from Tim's new band "The Nouveau Honkies".
But to my surprise Tim is singing and playing guitar...and hes accompanied by his girlfriend who plays electric violin(lemme just go on the record as sayin I hate Dave Matthews because of this very samething)...a bass player and a drummer too(a four piece). Appearantly they are based out of Stuart which is a lil too far to catch a show at a small club, so I was really excited to see them playing in Orlando which is much closer to me...and boy I was glad I didnt miss it! WOW!!!

A local Orlando band "The Smokin Torpedoes" opened the evening, the crowd stuck around...and after the first song the entire place was slack jawed in awe. What a great band! To me they are very unique, with the violin and all...at times in the song you could tell the guitar solo was due, Id focus my attention and then be totally surprised that the guitar solo was coming from the violin(through a Blues Deville or Bassman RI)!!! ...and I wasnt disappointed at this! I really dont know what else to say, the band was tight, bass player and drummer had chops, but that violin combined with his guitar and vocals was a great combination...Id highly recommend that anybody who gets a chance, to check them out!!!:AOK:

Heres a couple of videos I found of them on Youtube, theyre good but just not the same, I dont think these do them justice(sound quality)

Oh yeah, and the highlight of the evening(for me) was watching them play "Hotrod Lincoln"...flippin awesome!!!

I was actually surprised to read about them here only a couple of months ago in this posting by Bloozcat...but I know those Treasure Coast venues and shows are closer to Rocket, I thought he might wanna check them out...or any other Florida member here at the Fret.

Thanks for checkin it out Sunvalleylaw:AOK:

Wonderful band! I'm near the Orlando at least once a year.

I'll look to see if they are playing next time I'm around.
