So, I've been surving off a little Roland Micro-cube for the past little while. I was in a band for a while, but we had equipment at our jam space and my friend always loaned me his stack for shows so I never needed to buy my own amp really. However, that's at an end.

I'm pretty much open to any type of amp, but I would like it to be relatively versatile. I did play a lot of metal, but lately it's been more post-rock and indie-rock. I was told that a Fender De Ville was a great option, but new they're a little pricey. I'm not opposed to looking for something used though.

Anyway, what amps should I look into getting that would hopefully suit me well enough.

Price limit would probably be around $400 - $500 (Canadian :p)

Not sure how much these are going for in Canada right now, but I've got one and I love it: a Jet City JCA20H. Robert just reviewed his. Welcome to The Fret!

There are a a lot of factors involved in buying an amp. You mentioned playing in a band. Is that your plan for this amp. Are you looking for something with enough power to gig with straight up, or maybe miked, or is it for home use? Do you want something with tubes or SS. You have experience with the Cube so are you looking for modelling or just a straight amp. Is a built in reverb one of your needs? Oh and one other thing Head or combo. This would make it a lot easier to recommend an amp.
I have found quite a lot of gear lately on Kijijji. Oh and one other thing are you looking for Fender Marshall or Vox style tones?

Give one of the new Cubes a shot - the 40 or 80XL. I think they are fantastic sounding, highly portable, hassle free rigs.
