Hey, you tube lovers out there, I have a question for you. Pertains to the new Crate 5 tube amp.

If you look at the specs, it says it's powered by 1 tube and that's it. Whereas the Palomino V8 is powered by one tube and pre-amped by another. So, how does that affect the sound?

They don't mention it, but it has a single 12AX7 preamp tube, in addition to the EL84 power tube. The amp's manual on the Crate web site states this.

For what it's worth Pie, their other retail outfit has a great price on the Palomino, which is a cool little amp.
