I heard about him on NPR some time ago -- maybe a couple years ago? I think I watched some vids of him back then. I'm glad to know that he's still around.

I think there's plenty of skilled and talented people out there now. The internet has brought accessibility of media and information to the point where anybody and everybody is playing guitar, and some real talent is emerging as a result.

IMO, the problem is convincing those talented people to go into music. It's such a crappy time for musicians these days, they're better off going toward a 9-5 career, no matter how talented they might be.

Backdoor Slam (his group) released a self-titled EP in 2008 that has the best live Redhouse I've ever heard. Yes, even better than Gary Moore's. Very soulful playing at its best.

He traded in his Strat for a PRS not too long ago. Hopefully we'll hear more from him soon. The last album, Coming Up For Air, was a departure from the blues rock, and it wasn't very memorable.
