Upgrading Standard Strat to Clapton Style Strat

Hey Fretters

I've had an American Standard Strat for years, and I'm thinking of upgrading it a little bit
I like the idea of setting it up as a "Clapton Strat".
On ebay you can buy a loaded Clapton pickguard so installation should be pretty straight forward and also would be easy to switch back to the
standard Strat pickguard if I need to for some reason at a later stage.

So, if any of you guys have done something like this I'd love to hear how it worked out for you.

In particular I was wondering:
(1) Would the loaded Clapton pickguard fit my standard strat?
(2) Where I would put the battery that's required for the active circuit?
I know the Clapton strat has space allocated in the tremolo (near the springs), but of course a normal Standard Strat doesn't have this

Hi, Fretz.

1) Yes, no problem.
2) You may be able to tuck the battery away in a corner of the control cavity. Wrap it in tape to stop it shorting anything. I had an active circuit in a strat years ago and there was plenty of room to squeeze in a 9 volt.

I guess the only issue then would be the effort required to change the battery when it runs out?
Anybody got any idea how long these batterys usualy last for?
