Rest in peace, Dave. He was also a WW2 vet.
His name and music were so familiar growing up, you'd think he was a relative. I got to see him play live once, and my Dad, no telling how many times.

He and Paul Desmond were known mostly for "Take Five", but there are plenty of other great songs in his lengthy catalog.

Ouch.

I hate it when we lose another legendary Dave.

I guess I'll be digging through my vinyl collection when I get home from work tonight.

RIP, Mr. Brubeck... Have "Take 5" playing now. Such a great tune... the very definition of sophisticated and cool.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard on the radio that Mr. Brubeck was the first Jazz artist to sell a million albums.

DB is also indirectly loved by drummers via the late Joe Morello connection.

For grins, borrow some of Joe's instructional DVDs from the library. A lot of fun, and some interesting bits about the art of drumming, from the workingman's viewpoint. A lot of folks could learn from it.
