We won the Sinister 7 again! www.sinister7.com

Last year, we won because the 2 top teams got lost. This year, we had a faster team, but then a fast team from USA showed up this year. They were very tough. Our 2nd guy lost 10 minutes after missing a turn. Then I made 2 minutes back on my leg 4. On leg 5, their runner got waaaaay lost and our guy was suddenly ahead. Our guy on leg 6 got a bad, bad cramp and barely finished. We thought we lost the race there. However, we were still in the lead though! The 7th and last leg was a victory run - the other team had lost too much time on leg 5 and that was it. We won, again!

It was dramatic and a lot of fun. My leg was very hard, 32 km hard mountain run and I ran out of water the last 5 km. Ugly. I still was fastest on leg 4 though.

Some photos of the area - the beautiful Crowsnest Pass.

Way to win, Robert! Beautiful place to race.

I raced a few team 6 and 12 hour MTB marathons in the past, and the challenge was shadowed by the team camaraderie.
A few times, some guy named Lance-something showed up and whipped up on the single rider category. I even passed him when he crashed once and for a few moments, savored the temporary thrill of passing The Boss (before he blasted past me again, that is).

Good job Sir Stud. I can imagine how hard that must have been. Way to hang in and gut it out. What did you get for the win?

BTW - we used to play at the bar/hotel at Crows Nest Pass. During the day I'd drive down the valley and stare at the Frank Slide and try to figure out how I was going to get the money out of the bank buried under the boulders.
