Mrs. Kat just surprised me with a ticket purchase to see Kiss at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I'm freakin' stoked!

I know, I know, Paul and Gene are the only original members that are gonna be there, but I believe Tommy Thayer is handling guitar duties, and Eric Singer is on drums. It should be a good show.

This will be my first big concert since seing Queensryche back in '91. The cool thing is that this will be a school project. I get to write a paper about the experience for a grade in my music class.

It's gonna be slightly surreal though, listening to "Detroit Rock City" amidst the fragrant aroma of cattle and horse poo. Only in Texas!

The cost for the ticket? $28.00 with all the fees. You can't beat that with a stick!

Are they still alive? 28 bucks to see some dead guys is kind of a rip off unless they are doing something cool like singing and playing guitar. Sounds like fun. I've never seen Kiss live and would love to but probably won't happen where I live. Have a good time and don't forget the ear plugs.

28 buck is hard to beat for any concert these days. I'm not much of a KISS fan, but at least they know how to put on a show. I was a bit surprised when they announced KISS among the country stars. I wouldn't mind seeing Brad Paisley or even Keith Urban.

The last time I went to the Houston rodeo I saw ZZ Top. That was in the Astrodome back in 2003.

I didn't know this at the time I bought my ticket, but my stepbrother has a couple extras for the same show tonight. Mrs. Kat is gonna be able to go!

We haven't had a "date night" in months. Should be fun!

Hope it was a good one, Kat. I saw KISS years ago, and it was pretty much the Gene Simmons Ego show. Not that it was a bad concert, but I did find Gene annoying. Come to think of it, that was over 25 years ago...time sure does fly.

We're back! It was an incredible show. All the bombast and spectacle you would expect from Kiss, but the band was dead on tonight. After the first song they got the house mix right, and they sounded great. The setlist was "Greatest Hits" material, and I screamed myself hoarse. Eric Singer sang "Beth," and did a fantastic job. Paul did a little tribute to the troops, and he led us in a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. It could have been cheesy, but he handled it right. The seats we had were good enough that we could tell who was who on stage, and the Jumbotron provided closeups.

Gene spit fire, but no blood. Tommy Thayer's tone is awesome, but how can you go wrong with a Les Paul through a cranked Marshall? Paul's sig V model Washburn looked outstanding under the lights. It was loud, excessive, and it was rock n' roll. Mrs. Kat said she hasn't seen me cut loose like that in a long time. It feels good to let go of the world for a little while and not give a **** what others think.

What a night. What a wonderful, wonderful night.

Cool stuff. I find that I sometimes get the KISS catalog mixed up with songs from Spinal Tap. For instance, I was trying to think of a ridiculous KISS song, and I almost mentinoed "Sex Farm Woman". I think I was actually trying to think of "Love Gun".

I do like "Beth". Glad to hear you had a good time!

Tig, Brad Paisley is awesome in his shows. I haven't got to see Keith Urban live as of yet but I already know that he can really keep things moving.

On the nite of 01/30/78, my wife took her nephews (12 and 10) to see their FIRST concert....KISS at the Philly Spectrum. 30 some odd years later they still talk about what a great show that was and profusely thank their aunt for the BEST indoctrination to concerts. I talked to my wife for the FIRST time the next morning on the bus going to work.......but that's another story. lol
