I'm not sure yet if any of the AFC teams can beat the NFC teams left standing. You never know because it's the NFL!

New England is capable of beating any team in a shootout game. They can't play defense to save their lives, but that offense can go to score to score with anyone, and even opponents that can play defense can't figure out what to do with Gronkowski.

In other news, the Jets and Brian Schottenheimer have finally parted ways. It is however entirely possible that I've not seen the last of him with one of my teams. Marty Schottenheimer interviewed this week for the Bucs' vacant head coaching job and the papers here are saying he's now a leading candidate to get the job. If he does take the job it's possible that he would bring in Brian to be the OC.

Either way, I am glad to know for a fact that someone else will be calling the offensive plays for the Jets next season. Word is the leading candidate for the job is now-former Miami head coach Tony Sparano. I need a lot more things to change to believe the Jets will be anything other than also-rans but this is a start.

She was mainstream by 1985 and the "Like a Virgin" album. Those were college years for me, and I remember the sorority girls who liked to dance being all over the earlier albums.

Roger Goodell is hoping for a Patriots/Packers game. First team to score 100 points wins. With the new pass-coverage rules, that should take about three quarters. The extra time they can use to sell more commercials.

I agree that sacking Shottenheimer is a good start. IMO, Rex Ryan and Snachez need to go too. I know Ryan will be back (sigh), but what are the odds of them keeping Sanchez around next season?

Apparently some Jets are anonymously throwing Sanchez under the bus. I wish I could find that ESPN article from the beginning of last year (I think) that said that Sanchez would be the best of that draft and that Stafford wouldn't pan out. I'm happy with Matt, thank you very much. I almost got a Stafford jersey instead of Suh. Was a close call.

I know Ryan will be back (sigh), but what are the odds of them keeping Sanchez around next season?

Hard for me to say because I have little to no faith in GM Mike Tannenbaum to see that Sanchez is the problem. He is notoriously stubborn when it comes to acknowledging a draft pick hasn't worked out (see also Vernon Gholston) and is probably less likely to do so with a QB he moved up a dozen spots to get and paid $25 mil in guaranteed money.

If I had to handicap it now, I'd say the odds are 75% in favor of Sanchez at least beginning the 2012 season as the Jets' starting QB.

Those Jets could take the current Rex Ryan Jets without much struggle.

I'd like to know who the anonymous Jets players are who made the critical remarks about Sanchez. I don't like that they're hiding behind anonymity. I happen to agree with the criticisms raised and would appreciate knowing which Jets see things the way that I do. It would also be interesting if the criticism is coming from guys that play different positions. If it's all WRs then it could be dismissed as guys getting upset because they didn't get enough targets and blame it on the QB. If however, it's guys on the defensive side of the ball it becomes more interesting because they have a chance to see how Sanchez reads and reacts to opposing defenses. Either way though, they should just put it on the record and stand by it. What that team needs more than anything is leadership that isn't afraid to tell the truth.

Perhaps the only enjoyable thing about this Jets season for me was that I got a Revis jersey for my birthday in August and was able to wear the jersey for all 16 games. Except for the second Buffalo game, Revis had another amazing season. I haven't had a Jets hero this big since Klecko retired.

Just saw that the Lions re-signed all their coordinators. Continuity is vital. I was concerned about losing Linehan. He's done a great job with Stafford and the rest of the offense. One of the many failings of the Millen era was changing coaches left and right. Some were questioning Cunningham, but last I checked, he's not a defensive back.

Nice shirt Tig. Cushing is an excellent young LB (from one of my familiy's alma mater schools too). All three of the USC LBs that came out that year (Cushing, Matthews and Maualuga) have had a big impact on their team's defenses

Tebow Time is over and done for this year......a victim of the much-maligned Pats defense that harrassed Tebow at every opportunity. Brady was of course, splendid as were his receivers.

In a wildly entertaining game, the 49ers edged out the Saints at the very end. I'm glad to see the 49ers win because the Iggles David Akers now kicks for them.....after being cut by Andy Reid in yet another dumb-*ss move. Akers was extremely popular in Philly and we're all glad to see him have a stellar year for the Niners.

Yesterday was a great illustration of why that style offense is not sustainable long-time in the NFL. I will give Tebow credit for this, yesterday he performed the miracle of making a lifelong Jets' fan root for the Patriots for three hours.

I was sad to see the Saints lose, especially after coming back from such a rough start, but when you can't make plays on defense, that's what's going to happen. They need to address that side of the ball in the offseason.

Well, the Houston curse of being their own worst enemy stays alive yet again. The old Oilers had it, and today, the Texans polished that turd to a new shine.

Still, I would not have believed they would have gotten this far with a 3rd string rookie QB.

At least the Giants-Packers game is on for some entertainment. Manning and the Giants are peaking at the right time of the season, so hopefully they'll give Rodgers a run.

Yeah, for a minute there I thought the Pack might come back due to those calls..........and if they had won.....I can't help but think since they are the new America's Team.......that they get THOSE calls that the Cowboy's used to get under Landry.........but this would have made me WONDER if "some palms were being greased"???

However, I thought the Giants looked like a much better team last night than the Niners did on Saturday. The SF offense looks a bit feeble.

Those of calls upset me. I'm a baseball guy and I'm used to a bad call here, and a gimme call to make up for it, but those were blatantly ridiculous calls... The Giants prevailed despite them though, so good on them.

As for my predictions, I have NE and NY, but I'd love to see a Giants/Ravens Superbowl. Not sure the Ravens quite got it though. What a seasons of upsets if they knock out the Pats though!

So we've come to this, the Jets' fans least preferred Super Bowl, the hated Patriots versus the other New York football team. Truth be told, unlike many Jets fans (and much to my father's dismay), I have no hatred for the Giants, except when they're the opponent. The Giants happen to be playing some great football right now and I'm enjoying watching them work. I'm hoping Jason Pierre-Paul has many chances to introduce himself to Tom Brady during the Super Bowl.
