That is the Novak that Charlie Hunter used to play. Recently he has switched to a 7 string, but man is his work on the 8 something else.
That's what it is alright & you're statements about Charlie Hunter are right on as well.

Charlie Hunter is the Man, both as a musician and as a human being. I won't repeat the whole meeting Charlie story as I told it at length in another thread, but I will repeat this part of it... he is the single most down-to-earth friendly musical icon I have ever met. He let us in, just us, for soundcheck [which was a mini set of great music in itself].

Anyone here who hasn't listened to Charlie, def go pick up some of his stuff. on the vast majority of it he plays the affore-pictured novak 8 string, through two separate amps [one bass for the bottom 3, one guitar for the top 5] and plays chords with an approach and tone like an organ player, so he essentially creates the sound of 3 instruments by himself. it's mind-blowing to watch him do it.

tot_Ou_tard, you seem aware of charlie, have you heard his work on the Bobby Previte album "Ministry of Truth"? Previte is a legendary NYC jazz drummer who decided to put together a rock band [Charlie on guitar and bass, not the 8 string, but separate guitar and bass, Skerik on Saxophone, Jamie Saft harmonica and keys, Marco Benevetto on organ, and others guesting whom I cannot recall offhand] If you've ever listened to charlie live and heard some of those licks and thought "man, if this dude ever just played rock guitar it almost wouldn't be fair," than this is the album that pays off on that thought, and no, it's not fair. with 2 less strings a "regular" guitar is almost a toy to charlie. rock fans, don't shy away from the so-called jazz guitarist, charlie rocks at least as hard as anybody. ok enough charlie hunter worship from me for one day.

No I haven't heard that album RoG. It's great to have you around to point me to new stuff.
