Dan, this is not a song that can or should be covered at a whim. It demands soul and emotion. I've heard it done technically well, absent those attributes, and it fails. Congrats for having the guts to tackle it. You honoured the song.
 
Great job on this cover. There have been so many covers of this song that its hard to remember what the original sounded like, but regardless i enjoyed this one.

Here's another version I've fallen in love with. Phil Whickham recorded this from a hotel room but man can he sing. He does it in E and has a few chord changes and melody changes, particularly in the 3rd verse. Very passionate.

 
Dan, excellent job on a great tune! Man, between that Prine tune you posted a little while back and this Cohen tune, it seems you and I have very similar tastes!

I'm glad the late Jeff Buckley covered this and had a hit on it, mostly b/c it made a younger generation aware of Leonard Cohen.
