Humbucker from Squier?

I was given a humbucker that came from a Squier, bridge position.

What can I expect for this guy?

The aim is to install it in an older Yamaha HSS Strat with issues. my idea was to put the Squier hb in the bridge position and keep the stock single-coil at neck.

It depends... Are there any markings on the pickup?

It could be a "Duncan Designed" pickup, which are made overseas to Seymour Duncan specs, and modeled after pickups in the SD line.

Which model and year Squier did the pickup come from?

Any pics of the original guitar and / or the pup itself?

It could be a stock Squier design, made in house in whatever factory the original guitar came from.

BTW, that's not necessarily a bad thing. A good pup is a good pup, no matter whose hands (or machine) wound it. Without knowing more info about the pup itself and / or the guitar it came from, the only way to tell is to wire 'er up and see what happens!

It's most likely a ceramic magnet, no name item. You can buy similar from the factory in China for a few dollars on eBay. Not necessarily bad sound, though.

It won't really be an upgrade for something like a basic Yamaha Pacifica, more of a like for like swap.
