I thought Slapping was for Bass players!!!

I've seen a few people do that before. It is basically a bass technique used on the guitar. I would think that heavier strings would be a benefit. It would require a bit more right hand accuracy because of how close the strings are together.

Personally, I'd rather just slap on the bass . . . although since I hurt my hand, I've had a hard time developing a new popping technique.
 
A few guys from the soul, R&B, & Funk era did this a lot but mainly in bands with only one guitarist to blend certain grooves along with the bass player.

Erine Isley(Isley Bros), Gary Shrider (P-funk), George Johnson Brother's Johnson), &Tony Maiden (Rufus) come to mind right off the top of my head.
